HCEB work with Oxford Economics to commission Economic Impact study
We are excited to announce that we are partnering with Oxford Economics to commission new research to quantify the economic impact of reduced activity at Heathrow across the sub-regional area. The research is designed to deliver a thorough and robust analysis of the direct, indirect, and induced impacts that typically arise from the presence and operation of Heathrow airport on the local economies of Ealing, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Spelthorne, Slough and South Bucks – as well as estimating how these impacts are likely to change over the short-term (to 2025) as the airport and the airline sector recover from the worst effects of the coronavirus outbreak, and adjust to new ways of working.
Oxford Economics have worked previously on examining the impact of airports on local economies, and have a track record of providing high-quality quantitative analysis of London and the South East.
We worked closely with local authorities and other key stakeholders in developing the brief for this research and hope it be used to inform decision-making at the airport and elsewhere on how best to support those most impacted by the impacts of COVID-19.
We will be publishing the research ahead of our next HCEB Independent Forum on 9 September. For more information, click here to download the brief.
